Sleep Trends: What Beds Are Brits Buying in 2025?

As arguably the most essential item of furniture in a home, buying a bed is an important event that consumers are likely to spend a lot of time and money on. But what do buyers prioritise when shopping for their beds?

Midway through 2025, the bed and mattress retailer, Time4Sleep, has shared its top-selling products and the trends seen amongst consumers looking to purchase a bed.

Jonathan Warren, bed expert and director of Time4Sleep, says: “In 2025, we’ve seen consumers display a clear preference for versatile beds which offer bedroom storage solutions, particularly ottoman beds, drawer beds and divan beds.

“This highlights a growing desire amongst consumers to purchase beds which are perceived to offer a greater value for money, by combining space-saving storage solutions with comfortable sleeping arrangements.”

Jonathan continues: “When it comes to style, consumers are prioritising timeless design. We’ve seen customers opting for French and sleigh-style beds alongside classic wooden and upholstered beds. There is also a noticeable increased demand for rattan beds, a versatile style that works well with multiple decor trends.

“This is likely due to the fast-paced landscape of interior design, with Brits seeking a greater value for money by choosing styles and materials that are not tied to particular trends. These timeless items can be refreshed through clever styling as certain trends come and go.”

What to consider when buying a bed

Jonathan advises: “Choosing the right bed can feel like a daunting task; the best place to start is deciding what size you want. Beds in the UK follow standardised sizing, so it’s easy to find the right mattress once you know which size works best for your room. Consider your sleeping arrangements and ensure the bed size you pick will give you enough space to stay comfortable, whether living alone or with a partner.

“Your bed is one of the most important pieces of furniture in your home, so take your time deciding what is right for you. Consider your budget, desired material, and any extra accommodations you might want.

“If you are looking to buy a bed frame with slats, consider how firm you want your bed to be; solid slats provide a firmer feel, whereas sprung slats are more flexible and offer more gentle support.”
